THE Parliament outreach program has kicked off for 2024 with the education team visiting two government middle schools today.

The Deputy Clerk of Parliament Dr. Sione Vikilani led the program and assisted by Tupou Manuofetoa and Hortensie Ngalu of the Education Team.

The purpose of the visit is to provide form 2 students taking Tonga Society and Culture with information on Parliament which is part of their curriculum.

The students are also briefed on the roles and functions of Parliament which is to enact laws, pass the national budget, represent the interest of the people and act on their behalf, appoint the Prime Minister and its oversight role on the Executive work.

The young pupils were also enlightened on the legislative process and the team also answered questions from teachers and students.
