LORD Speaker, Lord Fakafanua and  Members of Parliament joined family and loved ones in paying homage to former Member of Parliament, late Lord Fusitu’a during a farewell memorial service at the Centenary Church, Nuku’alofa yesterday.

The Clerk of Parliament Gloria Pole’o conveyed a condolence message from the Legislative Assembly to Lady ‘Eseta Fusitu’a (mother of the deceased) and family.

The Legislative Assembly remembered the former politician as one of the great lawyers in the legal profession.  As a Member of Parliament, he was known for his continued commitment to promoting and safeguarding the cornerstones of Tonga’s Constitutional Monarchial system.

He entered politics in 2014 following a bye election in May 2014 after his father Lord Fusitu’a Siaosi ‘Alokuo’ulu Wycliffe Fusitu’a passed away.

Lord Fusitu’a served Parliament for over seven years.

The noble estate holder of Sapa'ata, Faletanu and East of Angaha and Ma'ufanga, Niua Fo'ou passed away in New Zealand on February 8.

His body was flown to Tonga on Wednesday before he was laid to rest at Mala’e ‘Aloa cemetery yesterday.

Lord Fusitu’a died at the age of 52 and is survived by daughter Phaedra Fusitu’a.
