His Majesty King Tupou VI will officially open the 2016 parliamentary session on Thursday, June 2.

This year’s event features the usual fanfare ceremony including police and military march as well the second school student’s lively brass band.

The occasion will be attended by some Members of the Royal Family, Members of Parliament, diplomatic corps, Lord Chief Justice and church leaders among others.

His Majesty King Tupou VI will arrive at 10:30am for his opening address marking the opening of the 2016/2017 parliamentary sitting.

The state opening formality will be followed by a reception for the distinguished guests at the Parliament’s premises.

First on the House’s agenda will be a reply to the Message from the throne to be followed by the Budget Debate.
