Profile: The Prime Minister of Tonga

HRH Prince 'Ulukalala Lavaka Ata is the youngest son of His Majesty King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV.  He has been the Prime Minister of Tonga since the 3rd of January 2000, where has was appointed by His Majesty to replace the long-serving Baron Vaea of Houma.  He was also the Foreign Affairs Minister from October 1998 until August 2004 and the Defence Minister from October 1998 until September 2004.  Amongst the portfolios he still retains are Minister of Civil Aviation; Minister Responsible for  Communications and Minister of Marine & Ports.
