Nuku’alofa, Tonga – 21 May 2015         THREE Nobles of the Realm this morning officially closed the current sitting of the Legislative Assembly which was opened in January with a soft closing ceremony.

His Serene Highness Prince Kalaniuvalu, Lord Vaha’i and Lord Fakafanua represented his Majesty at this formality.

In delivering an address from the throne on behalf of his Majesty King Tupou VI, HSH Prince Kalaniuvalu stated he is happy to note that the Speaker himself and the rest of the MPs including the Prime Minister are all well.

He added that today’s ceremony marks the completion of the current parliamentary session and there is hope for continuous effort and commitment from MPs to help further Tonga’s socio-economic development.

Prince Kalaniuvalu also maintained that His Majesty is also hopeful that parliamentarians would also commit to collaborate on any future national strategic development plans submitted from the Government.

He ended his address from the throne wishing God’s blessing upon all MPs.

Meanwhile, the  Legislative Assembly’s next parliamentary session will be officially opened by His Majesty King Tupou VI in a state opening next Thursday, May 28, 2015.
