THE Ministry of Inland Revenue has collected a total of TOP$TOP$5.7 as of last Friday, July 20th 2012.
The Hon. Inland Revenue, Hon Fe’ao Vakata reveals this when the House met this morning.
According to Vakata, they managed to collect TOP$5.7 million as of last Friday and more expected another 2 to 3 million before the end of the month.
In an interview with Hon. Vakata adds government usually generate up to millions of revenue at the beginning of July every year.
The Inland Revenue minister also attributed the Free Wesleyan Church and the Heilala Week celebration as contributing factors to the amount of revenue collected in the period mentioned.
Hon. Vakata also acknowledges the Royal Wedding as another contributing factor to the trend as well Saineha and Liahona Alumni Reunion.
“Such festivities have greatly contributed to the revenue collection…I also thank the President of Liahona and Saineha High School Ex-students for letting Tonga host their reunion and hope for more of such occasion in future,” explains the Hon. Minister.
