Boost tourism is one of Vava’u 15 constituency number one priorities.

ROAD maintenance is one of the top priorities highlighted in the Vava’u 15 constituency parliamentary report to boost tourism.

The number two Noble representative of Vava'u to Parliament, Lord Tu’i’afitu revealed this when he presented the Vava’u 15 parliamentary visit report in Parliament last week.

In addressing Parliament the Deputy Speaker of the House said the road to Mount Talau should be well maintained to boost tourism.

“It’s good for tourism, it has a good seaview where you can see the whole of Neiafu and other tourist attractions,” explained Lord Tu’i’afitu.

For this reason, he said if there’s money in the future, then maybe this could be used as tourist scenic spot because of its natural beauty.

Lord Tu’i’afitu also highlighted the need to maintain Kilikili ‘o Tefua historical site as this has been listed as one of the environmental reserved area. He said the World Cultural Heritage of the UNESCO seeks to preserve the cultural and natural heritage like Kilikili ‘o Tefua.

Beaches like ‘Otu Fanga Valu and other attractions such as the Botanical gardens at Tu’anekivale should be developed as tourist destinations.

However he maintained in order for tourists to have access to these sites road maintenance is imminent to further develop tourism.
